Jesse was born in 1975 in the south of Holland and was injected with the music virus from his early childhood. Both his parents were classically trained musicians, and he followed up on that by taking piano lessons. As a teenager however, he picked up on hiphop and rock music in the late 80’s and went on for a different kind of music. That was until he discovered dance music in the early 90’s. He started to party, but just dancing wasn’t enough: he wanted to make the people dance. That’s why he bought his first records, from early hiphop to old school acid, techno and drum ‘n bass and started spinning, mainly on small parties from friends. In 1994, just for the fun of it, he produced a couple of house tracks with two friends, which were received well but never released. After a time of wandering around, Jesse Voorn ended up in Amsterdam, where his career as a dj took flight.
And lately his name is buzzing around everywhere. The dj rocks all dancefloors of Holland’s most renowned clubs and dance events, like Dance Valley. His unique blend of house, tech-house, electro and techno and his an excellent choice of records gets it going on everywhere. His trashy house beats have one thing in common: they are funky as hell. No nonsense, just good music. His first record Get It Done was released worldwide in april 2007. The track created a huge buzz and the response is very good. British dancemagazine DJMag rated the track 4 out of 5 stars. ‘Get It Done uses enamel-hard synths, fuzz-distortion and an almost health-jeopardizing amount of squelch. Good stuff indeed.’ Or as British DJ Dave Pearce already said: “This one really hits the spot. Dark and dirty.” Moreover the track has been spinned on Pete Tong’s show on BBC Radio 1 and there is support from dj’s such as Marco V, Tomcraft, Sasha and Mason. Jesse did a unique releaseparty in Second Life and was therefore the first Dutch DJ in Second Life. He also was nominated Best Talent 2006 and shared the decks with dj’s such as Laidback Luke, Derrick May, Stanton Warriors, James Zabiela, Marco V, Motor and many more.
Jesse also is an ambassador for Dance4Life, an globaly operating organisation that makes people aware of the problems around aids and hiv. “For me it is very important to contribute to Dance4Life,” he says. “The thing I like with Dance4Life, is that it’s not limited to just inserting a cheque. Dance4Life knows the youth of today is the future of tomorrow. That’s why it’s good to really involve them.” He continues: “Dance4Life uses music and dance to bring the aids and hiv issues under the youths attention. Two things that are attached to nothing, to no boundaries or limitations and that is why it works so good. As a dj and producer I can identify with that and I am honoured that I can contribute in making these kids more aware on the struggle against aids and hiv. I can make them see that by taking action they can make a difference. I many countries there still are taboos on sex and Dance4Life want to break with these taboos. By doing that, Dance4Life put my thoughts on this into words and deeds. I I belong to Dance4Life, you belong to Dance4Life, everyone belongs to Dance4Life. Together we can make this very important difference.”
